Safe Dog Program
What is the Safe Dog Program?
The Safe Dog Program is a test for Temperament, Socialization and Obedience.
- This test will qualify the dog as either sound or unsound temperament. (Soft to hard) This can be determined in a short time looking at response to the examiner and recovery time. This portion of the exam will be done by a qualified examiner without the dog’s owner/handler present.
- The second portion of the exam will determine the socialization of the dog to experiences, people and the environment. Basic obedience and handle-ability by the owner will be assessed.
- The final portion of the exam will certify that this dog is safe being handled by his owner/handler. This will look at the leadership exhibited by the handler and the safe control that is demonstrated between handler and the dog. Knowledge of the aspects of responsible ownership of the breed can also be determined in this portion of the exam.
